What Memory does with your messages.
One page for server owners to link in their rules or announcement. The full details are in the privacy policy.
What it reads
Only the channels a server admin turns on. Nothing else in the server is read. Every few hours (every 12 on the Free plan), Memory reads the new messages in those channels and writes short summaries of the decisions, plans and facts in them. Messages posted while you've opted out are skipped.
What it keeps
The summaries, with the channel, the time and who took part. Never the messages themselves: they're held in memory only while the summaries are written, then dropped.
Who processes it
Google Gemini writes the summaries and the answers. Memory uses Google's paid Gemini API, and Google's terms for it say Google doesn't use this data to improve its products.
Where it's stored
Summaries are stored on Memory's own server on Google Cloud in Paris. Settings, plans and usage counts are kept in a MongoDB Atlas database. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
How long
| Plan | Summaries kept |
|---|---|
| Free | 90 days |
| Lite | 1 year |
| Starter | 1 year |
| Pro | 2 years |
Counted from when the messages were posted. Older summaries are deleted automatically every day.
Who sees the answers
Anyone can ask with /ask, but an answer only uses channels that everyone in the channel where it's asked can already read. A private channel's summaries never show up in a public channel.
How to switch it off
- You, for yourself:
/ignore_mestops Memory reading your messages from then on./unignore_meundoes it. - An admin, for a channel: turn the channel off with
/setupor/disable. - An admin, for everything:
/forgetor the dashboard's Settings page deletes all of the server's summaries. Removing Memory from the server stops it reading at once.
